Coaxial Wire has a central core wire with four outer wires wrapped around it. This wire is very flexible and easy to ligate as an initial arch wire. This is a stainless steel wire and is not as ridged as Tri-Twist. Some orthodontists like this wire because it feels smoother to the touch. Also, food does not adhere to this wire as it can with Tri-Twist.
Tri-Twist Wire was the first psychological wire introduced to the orthodontic industry. The three strands are twisted together. This wire is stainless steel, easily bent, and light for the first wire in the patient’s treatment.
